What does fitness training include?
From gym sessions to sports coaching, there are so many ways to fit exercise into your day with a fitness trainer. Simply decide what type of workout you want and then hire a fitness trainer to help.Â
Here are some examples of the fitness coaching options you’ll find on Airtasker and what you can expect from your trainer:
Personal trainingÂ
Personal training is usually a private, individual session between you and your fitness trainer. They’ll start by talking through your goals with you and then tailor a workout plan to help you achieve them. For example, you might want weight loss training, strength-building, or you might be preparing for a special event (like your wedding).Â
Some personal trainers also offer meal and nutrition plans to complement your workout plan. Depending on how you prefer to train, your personal trainer may offer personal training sessions at your home, at their own private gym, in a public park, or at a local gym.
Group fitnessÂ
Group fitness is great if you like working out alongside others (friends or colleagues), enjoy competing, and want to split the cost of personal training. Popular group fitness options include Bootcamp training, yoga, pilates, and HIIT training.Â
Simply let your fitness trainer know how many people are coming, the days and times that suit, and the timeframe you want to run the class (whether weeks, months or ongoing). Your fitness trainer may suggest a venue large enough for your class, or if you have a large park or backyard, this can be the perfect space to work out in.
Alternatively, if you enjoy the extra motivation you get from group workouts, but don’t need a qualified instructor, you could look for a gym buddy instead.
Specialised sport coachingÂ
Learn a new sport or build on the skills you already have with the help of sports coaches. Some of the most popular sport coaching types include tennis coaching, mixed martial arts, cricket, kickboxing training, cycling (or spin) instruction, Jiu-Jitsu training, and boxing.Â
Most coaches provide any equipment needed, but they’ll let you know if you need to BYO mats, pads, gloves, or racquet. Depending on the sport, you may also be expected to find a venue nearby, but your sports coach will discuss this with you before finalising your booking.
Stretching exercise sessionsÂ
Work on stretching, flexibility, and core strength with the help of a yoga instructor or pilates fitness trainer near you. Most of these instructors can be booked for individual sessions or small groups. They’re often happy to come to your home, workplace, or gym, but you’ll need to provide their own mat and towel.Â
