The BS AU 159 lists down what can or can’t be repaired when it comes to your tyres. For example, only the centre portion of “area T” of the tyre can be fixed; sidewall repairs are not allowed. The mechanic will also check for splits, cuts, liner deterioration, belt separation, and other related issues.

Local Mobile Mechanic Services
What do mobile tyre repair services include?
Mobile tyre repair services typically cover the three types of repair procedures: using a tyre string (external repair), using a repair patch (internal repair), and using a combination repair patch and plug (internal repair). Do note that our mobile mechanics conform to BS AU 159 or the guidelines for repairing a tyre. Because of these rules, a thorough inspection of your tyres will be done before any repair work begins.
Here’s what to expect from your mechanic during the process of mobile tyre repair:
Inspection of the tyre puncture before repair
For safety and legal reasons, all mechanics must conduct a thorough inspection of the tyre before repairing it. They will partially inflate the tyre, then remove it from the wheel before checking it internally and externally.
Preparing and repairing your tyre
If your mobile mechanic decides that your tyre can still be repaired, your tyre will undergo some preparation procedures. First, it has to be clean and dry. The mechanic will determine the angle of penetration and prepare the channel of penetration using a rotary cutter. All loose and visibly oxidized material will be removed and the rubber in the cavity will be buffed.
The patch will be cleaned and buffed to remove all contaminants, wires, and fluffed cords. Lastly, your mobile mechanic will apply a repair material such as a string, patch, or a combination of the two.
