The dishwasher is not drying properly. It is leaving water.

Troubleshoot, diagnose and potentially repair a 20 year old Smeg ST660 dishwasher. Dishwasher is running, but seems to unable to complete a wash cycle. The machine would spray water, beeped after a few minutes, and appear to start the cycle again. This would continue on for hours unless the door is opened and powered off. I understand that it's difficult to commit without having a good look at the machine. Treat this as your call out rate,and if it's a simple fix, great.
