Hello, I have three trees that need cutting back. All are in photos. The cherry blossom (first photo) has a wire above it, so mostly needing it cut to avoid it hitting that. I would prefer an arborist with training in the correct way to cut trees to encourage health.

What do arborist services include?
Arborists are often referred to as tree surgeons because of the intricate nature of their work and their focus on tree health when making recommendations. Using their industry experience, they consider all proposed outcomes and best practices before offering solutions or methods that are suitable for the situation. Whether it's for tree maintenance or management, here are some of the common you can expect when hiring arborists in your area:
Arborist report
An arborist report is usually needed to support council applications and development plans. The report may inform you about the tree species, health, safe useful life expectancy, and arboricultural rating. You might be applying to the council for development approval (DA) or for approval to remove trees from your property. This is important because removing trees can’t be done without council approval!Â
Your arborist will check for pests and disease, any structural defects, and identify species of plants and trees present before writing their report. They’ll make written recommendations in the report, supported by photos and evidence. This will accompany your application and assist the council in its decision-making process. Consulting arborists may also use this report in case you need it for other purposes, such as dispute resolution or tree risk assessments.Â
Tree trimming, pruning & removal
Tree trimming and pruning are necessary to maintain the health and safety of many trees. An arborist makes sure your trees are pruned or maintained in a way that enables them to flourish and grow afterward. Trees may be trimmed or pruned for safety reasons, or to ensure their long-term viability. If a tree is diseased or dying, tree removal may be the only option. Your arborist consultant will consider all factors before making a recommendation for removal with your tree workers.
Annual tree inspection
An annual tree inspection is a proactive way to ensure the safety and longevity of the trees in your garden. Your arborist will thoroughly inspect trees and vegetation on your property to identify current and preventable concerns. They will then provide guidelines for maintenance or an action plan to rectify any problems, so your garden can continue to thrive. Keep in mind that tree inspections are different from arborist reports - the latter provides more thorough documentation on tree management and maintenance.
Garden mapping
Garden mapping can be used in any garden but it’s especially useful for heritage-listed gardens. Your arborist will prepare a catalog that identifies species types and locations for each tree or shrub in your garden. You might use mapping to help manage your garden or plan future landscaping changes.
