What do chainsaw repair and servicing include?

Despite how built-to-last these nifty machines are, chainsaws are still subject to wear and tear. Whether your tool needs sharpening or an entire chainsaw brake repair, maintaining and servicing it is integral to prolonging its service life.

We can connect you with tool repair experts who can help you resolve your chainsaw problems. When posting your task, make sure to indicate the issue you're having, as well as the make and model of your chainsaw so your Tasker can prepare accordingly for your chainsaw maintenance. If it's your first time booking with us, here's what you can expect from a chainsaw service in your area:

Chainsaw problem diagnosis

Your Tasker first checks the condition of your chainsaw. There could be several reasons your chainsaw would stop working: lack of lubrication, a disruption in the power supply, spark plugs needing to be replaced, the air filter requiring maintenance, or a mechanical malfunction.

Once they locate the cause of the issue, your Tasker informs you of the required fixes for your chainsaw. They can also let you know if there are any replacement parts needed, or if your chainsaw is already beyond repair and needs to be replaced entirely.

Chainsaw repair and test-run

With the source of the problem located, your Tasker can now proceed with fixing your chainsaw using the proper equipment, protective gloves, and safety gear. Depending on the issue, they can either replace the chain, adjust the links, or repair the fuel filter in case there are any leaks. If you happen to have an electric chainsaw, your Tasker will most likely troubleshoot and fix its cables and connectors as well. Once done, they can do a quick test run to make sure that the repairs applied and replaced parts have brought your chainsaw back in commission and are at optimum performance.

However, if your chainsaw is deemed unrepairable, then it may be best to replace it instead. It's a whole lot safer as you can avoid further damage and accidents from occurring due to faulty components.

Chainsaw servicing and maintenance

If you tend to use your chainsaw quite frequently, then regular servicing is critical to keep it in good working condition. Your Tasker can assist you with basic chainsaw maintenance procedures, which typically involve:

  • Checking the spark plugs
  • Inspecting the air and fuel filter
  • Lubricating or sharpening the chain
  • Ensuring proper chain tension
  • Replacing the chainsaw bar, especially if there are apparent burn marks and other signs of wear and tear
