My elderly Mum's Win 10 desktop computer is throwing a: Reboot and select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device error on power up. Its an older systems that has previously been upgraded with extra RAM and SSD and generally still runs adequately. The most likely explanation is that the CMOS battery has expired but it could also be a dead SSD or unintentionally mangled BIOS settings. I need someone to bring a fresh CMOS battery and install it, set the BIOS boot device correctly if needed and see if that restores the system to normal operation. I assume it takes a CR2032 and if you're a tech who does this sort of work regularly I assume you will have one of these (and the other less common options) in your tool box. It is important that no actions are taken that could damage the contents of the SSD - if the CMOS battery and BIOS setting doesn't bring the system back I want to carefully consider the next step. I particularly don't want any additional unauthorized work done - no "data recovery", no favorite shareware installed, no "upgrades", no anti-virus scans, no upselling. Just the CMOS battery and set the boot device in BIOS if necessary. Should take less than 15 minutes.
