What does dog boarding include?

Dog boarding includes everything from picking up your dog when you leave and dropping them back when you return. Dog boarding kennels offer both short and long-term boarding, plus, they’ll include feeding and walking in the cost. They’ll communicate with you directly, asking if your pet has any dietary requirements, illnesses, or special needs (like anxiety). Dog boarders offer a range of services for your pet, including:

Dog pick up and delivery

If you’re going away, chances, are you already have a lot on your plate - so get a dog boarder who’s available to pick up and drop off your pet. Get a dog boarders near you to pick up your furry friend before you leave and return them after you get back. Your dog minder can also pick up any favourite toys or blankets that belong to your pet so they can carry a piece of home with them to their home away from home.

Short-term dog boarding

You can get dog boarding for any period of time - even if you only need a day or two. Dog boarding kennels can cater to a range of time lengths and will make sure your pet is comfortable and relaxed while you take a short trip for business or family. Your dog’s minder will send you updates every day, so you know your pet is happy, safe, and in good hands.

Long-term dog boarding

If you’re going to be away for a long period of time, you want to make sure your pet has somewhere to stay that feels as close to home as possible. Hire a dog boarder near you to take care of your pet for the entire duration of your trip. They’ll ensure your dog feels at home while staying with them, helping them get into a routine, so they feel more relaxed and comfortable.

Dog feeding and grooming

Your dog boarder will care for your pet like their own, including taking care of all their feeding and grooming needs. They’ll make sure your pet is fed nutritious meals, along with any medications they need right on schedule. They can either prepare meals based on your instructions, or you can provide food for your pet if they have a special diet. Your dog boarder will also ensure your pet is kept groomed, with baths and trims as needed.

Walking and playtime

Dog boarding kennels include plenty of playtimes, fun, and regular walks! Many dogs love the social aspect of boarding - they’ll often get to hang out with other furry friends as well. It means your pet isn’t just taken care of physically - they get to have a fun experience for themselves while you’re on holidays.

Monitoring and updates

If you’re worried about how your pet will cope while you’re away, you can rest assured knowing that your dog boarder will keep you updated with how your pet is going. You can request updates at any time via email or SMS, or regular intervals (like every day or every second day). Of course, if you can’t be disturbed on your trip away, your dog boarding provider will only contact you if they need to. For example, if they notice a change in your pet’s eating habits and behaviour or they require a trip to the vet.

Maidstone VIC, Australia

Hi, i had a 7 year old Bichon frise. He is a lovely , sweet boy who loves cuddles, food and nature. I am due to give birth from 27 July and will likely be in the hospital for a few days afterwards. I am seeking someone who is reliable and flexible to pick up my dog from Maidstone( most likely early August) and let him stay with you for 3 weeks ( approx 21 days) whilst I care for my newborn. I also need someone to drop him back to my home in Maidstone . I’m happy to pay seperate for this A few things about my dog, Socrates: Good: Cuddly, soft and gentle In good health Needs a walk- 30 mins a a day, longer is nice but not needed Smart- likes conversation and observant of routines, knows many words Affectionate- will give kisses and cuddles, will love to sleep in bed with you Generally clean- hates being dirty, tolerant of baths and washing feet and paws everyday if you are keen Quiet in the house - only barks if left alone and anti barking collar inhibits Good with other dogs Loves outings -Cafes The not so good Hates to be alone, has separation anxiety- will cry and have a bowel motion as a stress response/ as long as his outside that’s fine I have an anti barking colour you can use to stop the barking-‘will only bark when left alone and collar works Have an anti anxiety vest- he hates clothes but worth trying FYI- has one eye as he had to have one removed due to tumour during COVID. He is happy enough and play isn’t impacted He is sensitive to change and gone through a lot this year- ie, death and seperation ppl close to him, move house etc so I really need someone who is kind and gentle Requirements: Walk, affection and to be feed Safety - if you have a backyard he will love to have the option of being outside; safety is key. Happy to buy food Please give him anti depressants or help with anxiety - simply crush and hide in meat- It takes 2 mins to do -x day Honest updates about how he is going My budget is $35 a day.
