Electronic Repair Services
What do drone repair services include?
Drone repair services include all the tasks and activities needed to get damaged or non-working quadcopter back up and flying. Your hired drone repair technician can inspect the drone’s components to find the source of the problem, then apply the appropriate fixes.Â
This can include replacing damaged propellers, replacing the gimbal, fixing short-circuits, repairing broken wires and replacing LEDs. Your drone repair technician can fix most drone models and types, from the small drones for entertainment to the larger drones for racing or taking aerial photography and videos.Â
Inspecting the drone
If your drone sustained damage after crashing or bumping into an obstacle, your technician begins the service with a thorough inspection. They can check for cracks or breaks on the drone’s chassis, missing, bent or broken propellers, loose battery, loose gimbals and other issues. They may do a bit of cleaning of the drone if it fell into a muddy or dirty area.Â
Should there be any issues with flying, navigating or how the gimbal takes photos or videos, your drone repair specialist can disassemble the drone to inspect its internal parts. They proceed with the appropriate fixes once they’ve found the cause of the problem.Â
Replacing the propellers
Should your drone have bent, damaged or missing propellers, your drone specialist can replace the props with new ones. Some drone repair specialists can have spare props for popular brands like DJI. If you don’t have spare propellers, your drone repair specialist may offer to buy the spares for you from a drone repair shop, but this can cost extra.Â
Replacing the gimbal
If the gimbal is damaged or no longer works, your drone repair specialist can replace the gimbal. Some specialists may have spares for most types and brands of drones, but they can procure a new gimbal from your drone’s manufacturer as appropriate. Your specialist can go to your drone’s specialised service provider, such as a DJI Drone repair service centre and buy the new gimbal. Note that this can cost extra.Â
Repairing broken wires, LEDs and short-circuits
Should your drone not work or fly correctly due to broken wires that supply power, your drone repair specialist can splice new wiring and attach new power connections. They can also rewire and replace the LEDs if these don’t light up.Â
Some repair specialists may dust off the internals with a non-static brush or compressed air while the drone’s chassis is open. If your drone is experiencing short-circuits, your repair specialist can secure the insulation and the battery.
Testing the drone
Once the appropriate fixes are done, your drone repair specialist does a test flight of the drone. They can test the features of the drone, such as the gimbal. If the drone still has issues with gimbal operation, flight or any other feature, your specialist repeats the diagnostic and repair process. This is done until the gimbal works, and the drone flies straight and true.Â
