What does a dusting service include?
Your cleaner will dust all surfaces from top to bottom, ensuring that dust isn’t spread to clean surfaces. The exact inclusions depend on what you need dusted, though. Here are some of the most common dusting services:
Dusting furniture and ornaments
Furniture and ornaments easily collect (and show) dust. Your cleaner will ask if you want them to dust under or around any objects on your furniture. If they’re dusting under items, they’ll start by removing anything on top of your desks, drawers, tables, and other furniture, before removing dust with a damp cloth. If they’re dusting around items, they’ll use a feather duster to lightly remove dust from the surface (including ornaments) without disturbing anything. Next, they’ll use a duster to wipe behind and under furniture to remove any cobwebs. They’ll also dust shelves and wipe down window sills.
Dusting walls, ceilings, and wall hangings
Ceilings and walls may not collect much dust, but they do attract cobwebs and small insects. Your cleaner will gently dust surfaces, spot-checking for cobwebs in common areas, like cornices and behind doors. They’ll use a feather duster to remove dust from any wall hangings, especially the tops of photo frames. Finally, they’ll dust over skirting boards or baseboards to ensure dust does not settle there.
Dusting blinds
Most blinds need regular dusting, but especially horizontal Venetian blinds or interior shutters. Blind cleaning involves moving the blinds so they’re fully exposed by tilting them and/or fully closing them. Your cleaner will dust them using a damp microfibre cloth, wiping from the top blind, down to the bottom. Next, they’ll tilt the blinds in the other direction to repeat the process on the other side.
Post-renovation dusting
If you’ve just finished renovating a room or your whole home, it’s very likely that you need everything dusted to remove sawdust, plaster dust, and more. This is best done before vacuuming to ensure all the dust has settled onto the floor. Your cleaner will start from the top down, dusting ceiling fans and vents, before dusting any trinkets and display items. They’ll dust over electronics and appliances before wiping benchtops, tabletops, and skirting boards.

Well maintained unit that has floor boards & tiles only (no carpet or stairs) needs the following items ONLY done as I’ve hurt my back & am unable to do this week. Please don’t quote on all over general clean - I want the following items ONLY concentrated on & done thoroughly for 1.5 hours. Must accept Afterpay as payment method & must be reliable. Can use all my products & equipment including steam mop and/or normal mop.I’ve listed everything in order & detail so it’s easy to follow. 1) go thru & do all dusting from top to bottom eg vent in kitchen, lights/vent in bathroom, ornaments, shelves in lounge room, tv unit & hutch, lamps, window sills & a thorough dust & wipe down of blinds in spare room. No need to dust or clean ANYTHING in kitchen except floor & vent. The idea is to dust all dirt & short haired dog hair onto floor to vaccuum up shortly) 2) thorough clean of vent in kitchen (will give u step ladder to reach) 3) clean shower & toilet ONLY (I will pre spray with Shower Power soap scum remover the night before) so then just need to do all the scrubbing of the grout, tiles & especially the glass to remove soap scum & rinse product off thoroughly 4) EXTREMELY thorough vacuum (especially under my bed/tv unit as I can’t bend to get under there) required throughout following thorough dust of unit. 5) Empty vacuum & bin. 6) steam mop all floors SUPER thoroughly. If time allows can do living area twice. Very basic tasks but need a competent, experienced cleaner with a great attention to detail who will put their back into tasks (so to speak- because I can’t due to injury/surgery). Please & thank you 🙏 ☺️ I will be home to provide guidance if needed & to keep 2 little dogs out of ur way. However if you have allergies or are scared of dogs please note they will remain inside in whatever room I am in. They won’t go outside without me.’ Note: I have already vacuumed each day as well as Roomba’d in bedrooms but needs doing again post dusting & under items I can’t bend to reach while injured.
