Light fitting on a dimmer switch has stopped working. Previously it was flickering and continue to flicker with the switch on and off. Has not been in use for some time but has now got blackening on the base of the light where it attaches to the roof. Would like it inspected and repaired please.

1 meter wiring from an existing 2x2.5mm² to a switch(for Fan) and a power point. Fan is already installed, just needs power connected. Standard C bracket is already installed. The light key existed, need to swap it with double switch and a power point. We have a pitched roof with manhole just next to wires, joist already has a hole, so no cutting or drilling holes.
