What do fan belt replacement services include?

Most cars have one or two fan belts—some with four, but all with the same function: connect your car accessories directly to the crankshaft sheave to keep them running. While most fan belts are made to last, they'll still wear out eventually. If you're worried that they're already on their way to breaking, you can always have an expert check your vehicle and replace them if needed. Here's what you can expect:

Assessment

Before going any further, your Tasker will first assess your car engine and its fan belts to determine their current condition. If there is a jerky vibrating motion or rough rumbling sound, chances are your vehicle's tensioner is damaged and must be replaced as well.

Removing Old Fan Belts

Although it might look easy, the removal process requires the appropriate tools, steady hands, and an expert eye to prevent incorrect guessing and judgement. Once the tensioner pulley is released, the old fan belt should easily slide off after a few proper adjustments.

Removing Old Fan Belts

The new fan belt must be in the same size as the original. If you haven't purchased your new belts yet and you're having trouble comparing part numbers, your Tasker can help you choose the best fit for your engine. The new belt will be wrapped around the crankshaft sheave and grooved pulleys. A routing diagram might also be needed to secure correct alignment.

Removing Old Fan Belts

Your Tasker will run the engine to double-check the performance of your new fan belt. You may also request for a test drive to guarantee a smooth running engine.
