The floorboards are under wall-to-wall carpet, so you will need to temporarily lift sections of the carpet to access the floorboards, then securely refit the carpet afterward. I am seeking quotes from an experienced carpenter to stop floorboards creaking in the second bedroom of my apartment. We have floating bamboo floorboards on top of old, structural floorboards - and one particular patch emits a loud creak, no matter whether a rug is placed on top of it or not.
