What do garden benches services include?

Hiring a Tasker to build and install garden benches in your property is just one of the numerous available landscaping services that you can book here on Airtasker. One great thing about booking via our platform is that you only need to pay for the task you need help with.

Taskers can help you design the benches or even the whole decking for your garden. They can construct the benches for you if you already have a design made or an inspiration for the look. Read on to learn more about what types of tasks can be done by the efficient and experienced Taskers on our platform.

Wooden garden benches

Make your outdoor area a personal oasis where you can feel closer to nature. Wooden garden benches can give off a warm and cohesive setup. You can even level it up by hiring a Tasker to design and assemble a whole array of outdoor furniture for you. This can include tables, steps, and even a play area if you have kids. Imagine mixing and matching various woods like pine, teak, or cedar blending into your bushes and trees.

Metal garden benches

Metal garden benches are classics, too! Depending on the design, metal pieces can add a different charm to your garden. For example, welded steel in intricate designs can add elegance to your home. More modern designs can make it look trendier and more stylish. While metal usually rusts over time when exposed to harsh outdoor elements, this can now be remedied with outdoor paints and coatings. You don’t have to worry about that at all!

Concrete garden benches

Using concrete for your garden benches gives you flexibility when it comes to design. They’re also pretty durable, considering how low cost they are. They’re low-maintenance and practically weatherproof. To maintain the original look, you can just have your set repainted every year or even every few years.

Don’t hesitate to speak with your concrete contractor or builder about style. Concrete does not have to mean rugged with rough edges or old with the traditional swirling design on the surface. There are also many designs online that can inspire you and help your Tasker understand what you want.

Other options include plastic garden benches. These will not add value to your property in the long run since they are more likely to show use or break over time. However, if you enjoy remodeling every few years, this might be the most cost-efficient for you!

Major repairs to a garden bench box

$1,500

Darlinghurst NSW 2010, Australia

25th Oct 2022

I have a bench box or horizontal toolshed - made almost entirely of wood. The lid of the box is large & heavy. The lid is attached to the rear (southern) wall of the box by four sets of hinges. There are also 2 piston-like closers at each end which provide a degree of control when opening/lifting and closing/dropping the front of the lid. The bench box was constructed in 2007. In 2017, the hinges were replaced with new hinges. The hinges themselves are still in good condition. However the upper halves of the hinges, which are attached to the (southern) rear of the lid, have come away from the lid because the wood to which they are attached has rotted. The top of the external part of the rear wall of the box used to be covered by metal flashing. The part of the flashing protecting the western half of the external rear wall has disappeared. In addition, on its western side, the bench box is located right next to a leaking pond. In addition, in the bottom of the bench box is a pump sump which always has at least a few cms of water in it. The result is that, at least in the current weather, the wood comprising the rear wall of the box is very wet. There is an access problem. The outside rear of the box is very difficult to access as there is only a 6-7 cm gap between it and the fence behind the box – AND there is mature bamboo growing in that gap. As a result, working on the rear wall of the box will require removal of the lid and working on the rear wall from inside the box (noting that a portion of the floor is occupied by the pump sump). The main part of the task is to replace as much of the lid and the rear wall of the box as is necessary to allow the lid hinges to be attached to sound new wood in the rear box wall. I am open to replacing part or all of the wood in bottom (southern) side of the lid with something which can cope with moisture. Also, the piston-closers need to be replaced. - Due date: Flexible
