My parents are getting older, my mum has been diagnosed with a brain disorder and my sister who has a disability lives at home with my parents so my Dad being the champion he is has been working very hard caring for the both of them. It has come at a cost though, he is becoming burnt out and we have noticed he is struggling with the maintenence of the house, espcially the garden. They recieve a lawn service and a cleaner through NDIS and My aged care which is helpful and my brother, hubby and I try to visit as much as we can to help with jobs that need doing. It is just hard when we have young children, run business' and live 1-2 hrs drive away. My parents are planning to down size so we need to start tackling jobs that need tp doing. The garden being a big one. The garden needs weeding and mulching. Unfortunately the weeds need to be removed manually because weed killer will only destroy the nearby plants. I attempted to do it a week ago and I felt like I was getting no where. Its a big job. Any help will be greatly appreciated at this stage. We have been away and the lawn has got a bit out of hand so we need support in bringing it back to normal conditions. It is an acre. 1.) the top area is nearly all flat and easy to do. A ride on and whipper snipper will sort it out, 30min or so. We need it cut back to size. 2.) the bottom area, has steep elements to it, but a good ride on will do 80% of it, the rest is a brushcutter There is overgrowth at the bottom parts that will need a brush cutter, and the area around the lower deck, and river edges need a brushcutter to bring it back down. We want to be able to see and get to the embankment. But we don't need it cleared to the river as it's too dangerous. Near the alpacca shed, there is some left over fence wire, and mostly this just need to be moved to cut around it as it's caught up in some weeds, and the fence line just needs trimmed down both sides. I think the top part is say 30-45min, and the bottom parts is probably 2-2.5 hours depending on your equipment.
