What do head gasket repair services include?

The head gasket is one of the parts of your car that you should always keep an eye on. Any damage to it, no matter how small or severe, could lead to costly repairs if not addressed immediately. Air bubbles in the radiator, white smoke escaping the exhaust pipes, coolant leaks, and engine overheating are some of the most noticeable signs that your head gasket is failing. Once you start experiencing these problems, you need to have it checked out right away.

Our repair services include a thorough assessment, full repair work, and final inspection and testing. Here's what to expect when you hire a head gasket repair expert through Airtasker:

Head Gasket Assessment

As soon as your Tasker arrives, they'll ask you several questions about the issues you're having with your car. They will conduct a thorough assessment to determine whether your head gasket can still be fixed or if it needs replacing.

Head Gasket Repair

Once your Tasker identifies the problem, they will set up the necessary tools and proceed with the repairs. If it's only a minor issue or leak, they will repair it using gasket sealants which are usually in the form of a paste, glue, or spray. But first, they must remove the thermostat and flush the cooling system with water before pouring the sealer inside. They will then run your vehicle for 50 minutes with the cap on before placing a new thermostat.

Once the engine is cooled, your Tasker will drench the cooling system with antifreeze, then fix and tighten the head bolts inside the engine. If using sealers and tightening the bolts doesn't fix the problem, then a replacement may be the best solution.

Head Gasket Final Inspection and Testing

Our Tasker will do a final inspection and perform several engine tests to make sure everything is functioning correctly. Once you're pleased with the results, they will pack up their tools and clean the area to ensure that no mess is left behind.

Assessment of why car won't start, I think it's due to the immobiliser

$100

Thornbury VIC 3071, Australia

1st Nov 2021

I have been doing car DIY and have messed with the door locks and the emergency lights trying to install a flasher relay after putting LED globes in my rear tail lights and have since been experiencing hyper flashing. I have not tried starting the car over the last couple of weeks so I am not sure which part of my DIY'ing has tripped the motor. It will start and turn off within 5 seconds but all my lights work so I think it has something to do with the immobiliser. It is a 2001 Vokswagon golf. I need to be able to drive it to work at 7am on Wednesday so it is a bit of an emergency - Due date: Needs to be done on Tuesday, 2nd Nov 2021
