What do iron fencing services include?

Iron fencing service includes all the tasks necessary to do an expert iron fence installation on your property. This service can handle common types of iron fence installations, such as rod iron fence installation and wrought iron fence installation. Your hired iron fence installer can take measurements, mark off spots for post placement, dig the needed holes, install the posts, rails and gate.

Taking measurements

Before your hired wrought iron fence contractors install your fence, prepare the necessary permits. Some Taskers can procure these for you upon request. Once the permits are ready and you have your council's approval, your Tasker takes measurements. They can mark the exact spots for post-placement and help you choose the right location for gate placement as well.

Note that the site must be clear of any obstructions or debris. However, you may want to consider hiring another expert to clear these before work begins. After you've approved their plan for each post and the gate position, they can go to the next step.

Preparing tools and materials

If you don't have the iron fence yet, some Taskers can buy it for you upon request. They can make sure to have all the appropriate tools for the job and get the needed materials. Should there be any excess materials left over after the project, your Tasker can turn these over to you.

Digging holes for posts

With all the materials and tools ready, your Tasker starts digging the holes. They can dig as many holes as needed for all the posts and make sure they are deep enough and uniform, so the posts are level.

Installing posts

After each hole is dug, your Tasker places a post. They can attach a plumb line to ensure that all the posts are level and of the correct height once they're in their holes. Your Tasker can make the necessary adjustments if they aren't level.

Your Tasker can fill each hole ¾ of its depth with concrete to stabilise each post. Depending on the weather and how it affects the concrete mixture, this can dry after a day or two.

Attaching rails

After the concrete is dry and the posts are firmly in place, your Tasker attaches the rails to each post. Depending on the iron fence design, they can connect the rails with brackets or do spot welding. Your Tasker can make sure the rails are of the right length and cut them to size if necessary. They can also ensure that the rails have a consistent level of ground clearance.

Installing the gate

Your Tasker can install the gate, and if the iron fence has a drop-down bolt, they can bore a hole on the ground and attach the drop-down bolt gate. With your fence finished, why not hire someone to help you get the most out of your lawn?

Fence repair - brick & iron

$1,500

Sydney NSW 2000, Australia

5th Dec 2021

Looking for bricklayer/ handyman. Am looking for a quote on a small fence repair - for fencing in a courtyard damaged by a falling tree. Part of the fence is brick, and part is corrugated iron (3 panels). We would hope to somehow be able to re-use undamaged bricks (if possible) and also have 60 spares. Ideally we would love someone who could fix both at the same time but, if not, the brick fence is our priority. We are fairly flexible on days and times - can be done during the week or on the weekend, by prior arrangement when we are here. We would like it done as soon as possible before the weather gets too hot. Before or after Sat 11 December is fine (app wouldn’t allow me to list a general time period). We have lodged an insurance claim but are not yet sure if the outcome but will need fence fixed anyway. If insurance comes through, we will need an invoice/ tax receipt for their records.
