What do Kids’ Bike Assembly services include?

The kids’ bike assembly service is for pre-assembled kids’ bikes, and this includes unboxing and removing the packaging material, attaching the handlebars, saddle, front wheel, fitting stabilisers as necessary, attaching pedals, and inflating the tyres. The bike mechanic you hire may also do safety checks before your child can ride the new bike.

Since your child’s interests may change or grow over time, additionally, you may hire Taskers to set up basketball hoops, swing sets, playgrounds and trampolines under our Other Assembly Services category, as needed.

Unboxing the bike

To avoid causing any damage or losing any parts and tools for the bike, your hired bike mechanic begins with the unboxing of the bike. They can take the bike out of the box and remove any packaging material on the bike, such as bubble wrap, cardboard covering and snip off zip ties on the bike. This process avoids damaging the bike so that no parts or tools are missing before assembly.

Attaching the handlebars and saddle

The next step after unboxing is for the bike mechanic to attach the handlebars. Your mechanic ensures that the gear or brake wires aren’t tangled and can connect the handlebar column to its post on the bike at your desired height. The bike mechanic also ensures that the handlebars aren’t fixed past the maximum height, so it doesn’t come off.

Next, your bike mechanic installs the saddle or seat onto the bike by inserting the saddle post into its receptacle on the bike frame. The bike mechanic places it on the bike at a ride height that suits your child. Once positioned at the right height, the bike mechanic tightens the seat clamp bolt with an Allen wrench.

Attaching the front wheel and inflating tyres

Usually, the rear wheel is already attached, so what remains is to connect the front wheel. For this step, your bike mechanic loosens the brake cable nut to allow the brake clamps to open. The mechanic then loosens the nuts on the front wheel, then inserts it onto the front axle.

Once the retention washer, retention washer tab and nut are in the right position, the bike mechanic tightens the nut to secure the front wheel, adjusts the brake cable and tightens the bolt on the brake. The mechanic proceeds to inflate both front and rear tyres to the right pressure, as indicated on the side of the tyres.

Attaching pedals and pre-ride checks

For the last installation step, the bike mechanic inserts the left and right pedals to their respective sides on the bike. Once these are screwed on, the mechanic may proceed with the final checks on your kid’s bike. The mechanic checks for any loose screws to ensure that the brakes work, the brake cables aren’t twisted, and that the saddle does not move. He can also check for wheel misalignment. The bike mechanic may fix potential safety issues before letting any of your kids use the bike.
