What do LED Lights Installation services include?
The LED lights installation service includes cutting the right-sized LED light strip if necessary, sticking and mounting the strips, bars or headlamps onto your car, connecting the lights and its control panel or control switch to the power source. The service may include other incidental tasks for installation like cleaning the surfaces for mounting.
Preparing lights for mounting
Your auto electrician or sparky cuts a length of LED lights that will fit onto your car or SUV. For some car or SUV models, they may temporarily remove your car or SUV’s dash trim panel for easier access to the mounting spot. They may also remove the glove compartment to measure and prep for mounting at the passenger’s side. Your electrician cuts the right length of LED light strip or uses the appropriate length of prefabricated LED light tubes.
Cleaning surfaces
Before installing any of the LED light strips or tubes, your installer can clean the surfaces where the strips will be stuck onto with rubbing alcohol. This will ensure stronger adhesion as dirt, grease or grime can interfere with the effectiveness of the adhesive used to mount the LED light tubes or strips. Once cleaned, your auto electrician allows the surfaces to dry for about a minute before proceeding to the next step.
Mounting the LED lighting system
After the surfaces where the LED light tubes or strips and the control panel or switch are cleaned, auto electricians then attach these to the prepared surfaces. Depending on their type, your electrician can use industrial-strength adhesives or zip ties to mount them. The lighting system’s control panel or switch is then glued to a spot on the centre console trim, at the driver’s side. Taskers can reattach the glove compartment and dash trim panel after mounting.
Connecting to the power source
Once the LED light tubes or strips and the control panel are attached, Taskers can proceed to connect them to the power source. Depending on the way the LED lighting works, Taskers can connect these to your car’s battery, cigarette lighter or fuse box.
For this step, Taskers do wiring work like wire-stripping, splicing and soldering. Taskers ensure that the lighting system gets the right amount of power and doesn’t interfere with the starter motor or affect other car electronics. Â
Connecting LED headlamps
Auto electricians that do LED headlamp installation can perform all the tasks required to upgrade your car’s headlamps. This includes removing your car’s old halogen headlamp bulbs, cleaning the contact points, installing the new LED headlamp bulbs, and doing the necessary cleaning of the headlamps to increase clarity. Auto electricians can also do the needed wire-stripping, soldering and splicing to connect the new LED headlamps to the car’s battery.
