A/C compressor clutch not kicking in, been told wiring or relay fault

I put $100 starting number but can go up. I have an old car, the A/C compressor has just been rebuilt and just re gassed but the clutch is not kicking in, the A/C guy told me either a relay or wiring is not working and needs to be looked at in order for the compressor to run. the cars old, I'm old, and neither of us get out much so I need someone sympathetic to classic car problems, nothing high tech here to worry about. - Due date: Flexible
