I am very time poor and I am unable to get to any classes due to work/family commitments. I am looking for someone with at least a purple belt who might be able to come to my house for 2 x private sessions per week. I have 6 large Jiu-Jitsu Mats at home and a large backyard. I have a cert 3 in fitness and I am very experienced with weight lifting if a trade deal is something that is of interest as well. I have enough gym equipment at home.

Hello, I’ve been doing striking for a couple of months and I’m interested in training as well as some very light sparring to work on my technique under pressure. This was posted previously, but I didn’t reply soon enough. I’m looking for ongoing training every week or two weeks. Thank you.

Ideally, a person begins MMA training at 15 to 16 years old. Starting early allows him or her to get enough training before trying out to compete professionally. If that’s not the goal, the age range of 15 to 16 is still ideal for learning discipline, building endurance and memorising the moves. This does not mean that beginning after this age is impossible! It’s best to ask your Tasker how they can adapt the training depending on your needs.
There is no hard and fast rule for how long you need to learn. There are a lot of factors to consider. For example, a 16-year-old with a karate background may learn faster because his body is adept at the long hours of training. Meanwhile, a person with zero experience with fitness or martial arts may need five years or more. This still depends on the frequency, dedication and overall health of the trainee.
While learning MMA or martial arts requires at least a sparring partner, there are some parts of the training that your MMA coach may ask you to do on your own. These include activities focused on your stamina, speed, agility, strength and overall fitness. While these may seem unusual because MMA is a contact sport, they are crucial to your performance on the mat.
Any full contact sport comes with risks of injuries. Other contact sports include hockey, soccer and lacrosse. This is why it’s essential to take MMA classes from a legitimate source. Train with a certified professional. It doesn’t have to be in a fancy gym, but be sure to double-check if the Tasker is qualified to assist you with your needs. These details are usually readily available on their profile, but asking them to send their credentials is also fine.
No, there is not! While it may no longer be an option for a 40-year-old to compete professionally, there is no one stopping him from learning and practising mixed martial arts as a hobby or exercise. Though if you are starting late in life or getting back on the mat after a long break, we highly recommend informing your Tasker right away to avoid any unrealistic milestone settings.
Yes. However, this is something best discussed with your trainer. The kind of strength training needed for every sport may be different. If you have been previously into bodybuilding, you may need to unlearn a few things and change up your workout routine. At the end of the day, if you want to be fit, MMA is a great way to build overall strength and keep you active.

What do MMA training services include?
MMA training is multi-faceted because of the numerous disciplines or types of martial arts integrated into it. Whether you are looking for online MMA classes or need a professional to train with you one-on-one, Airtasker is a great community platform for connecting with the people you need. Here are some services that you can book on our platform:
Personal trainingÂ
Having a dedicated MMA coach to work with you allows you to master your craft and extensively address your areas for improvement. This is great for people who dream of fighting professionally, but it’s also open to people who use MMA as a workout or as a stress release. These private and individual training sessions are wholly allocated to working on your personal progress, thus allowing you to focus on one difficult move without worrying about derailing the whole class.
MMA classes
Taking MMA classes allows you to learn individually or alongside a group. You can book a private class or have a Tasker teach MMA with your friends as a bonding and trust-building activity. Besides mixed martial arts, Taskers can teach yoga, Pilates and other sports.Â
Taking MMA classes can also be cheaper compared to personal training since you have other people to split the costs with. If you prefer to hire a sports coach to work with your group in an in-house gym in your school or office, that’s possible too! Just let your Tasker know when and how often your group would like to train.
Specialised martial arts coachingÂ
Training in mixed martial arts is like learning the art of dancing. There are so many kinds of moves and styles for you to learn and integrate into your practice. You may learn or like one type of martial art and struggle with another. If this is your situation, indicate the particular martial art or aspect you are having trouble with so that Taskers can see if they are qualified to help.
For example, some people are really curious about Krav Maga and want to learn it safely. On the other hand, a strong fighter may need to sharpen his skills in Karate. Airtasker makes it possible for you to zone in on one particular aspect and book a special session for that!
