2012 great wall x200 just started squealing from engine

I’m having trouble with my ride-on mower. Here’s what I’ve found so far: The spark plug works after adjusting the magneto closer to the flywheel. The engine floods when the fuel supply is on (spark plug is wet after attempts to start). It briefly runs with the fuel supply off, then dies again. I’ve taken the carburetor apart to clean it—no blockages were evident. Its an old greenfield with a honda engine.
