Oil and Filter Assessment
Upon arriving, your mechanic will first inspect your vehicle before draining the old engine oil and replacing the filter. This process involves starting your car and warming up your motor oil. Then, they will lift your vehicle to locate the drain plug and place an oil pan underneath while draining out the old motor oil. Â
Oil and Filter Replacement
After draining out the old engine oil, your mechanic will proceed with removing the old filter using a wrench. Then, they will put a small amount of engine oil to the gasket to avoid leaks. Once they replace the oil filter with a new one, they will pour in the correct grade and amount of oil suited for your vehicle using a funnel to avoid leaks.
Final Inspection and Testing
After placing the new oil and filter, your mechanic will do a final inspection by starting the engine and letting it run it for a few minutes. I bought a second-hand Ninja 400, and it looks like the previous owner tightened the oil filter way too much. I’ve tried removing it, but it’s stuck. I even drilled a hole to try and loosen it, but that didn’t work either.
