What do plasterer services include?
For top-quality plastering, it is best to hire experts. Airtasker can match you with tradespeople with the right skill set and proven portfolio to improve your walls or ceilings’ aesthetic appeal, longevity and durability. Plastering is crucial for repairing surfaces, priming your home for remodelling or incorporating decorative features to enhance your living space.Â
Here are other plastering services you can get via Airtasker:
Ceiling plastering
Applying plaster to the ceiling is a task that requires a high level of skill and precision due to the overhead work. Plasterers begin by cleaning the ceiling surface and preparing the surrounding areas. While some Taskers can move or cover furniture, you may need a separate service to clear the space. Once the area is ready, a base coat of plaster is applied, followed by a finishing coat after the base has set. Experts take special care to ensure smooth and even coverage without sagging or dripping.Â
Wall plastering
If you need a smooth interior wall surface for wallpapering or repainting, opt for wall plastering. The process is similar to ceiling plastering, though plasterers have easier access and more room to move due to the vertical surface. Plasterers remove dust or debris from the wall and cover the rest of the area, then apply two coats of plaster for complete and even coverage. Wall plastering can also involve drywall plastering or applying plasterboard for added protection against noise and humidity.
Plaster repair
To avoid recurring damages to the plaster, experts often recommend hiring other specialists to work on any underlying issues near or supporting the plaster before they start the actual plaster repair job. Once problems like leaks or damaged pipes are addressed, plasterers inspect the site to assess the extent of the damage. They then prepare the appropriate amount and type of plaster needed for the repairs, making sure it matches the existing plaster in terms of texture and appearance. After completing the repairs, it's advisable to hire a painter to apply a fresh coat of paint to restore the plaster to its former glory.Â
Plaster coving
To add elegance to a room or hide noticeable imperfections, consider plaster coving. For this service, decorative moulding is installed on the junction where walls meet ceilings. While different types of plastics are now used for coving, plaster remains the best choice due to its adaptability even in awkward angles and areas. Plasterers measure and cut the coving to fit and then install and secure it with adhesives.Â
Lime plaster
For an environmentally friendly choice, you can opt to use lime plaster. A traditional technique that uses plaster with lime, lime plastering creates a breathable wall finish and a durable surface that can last for centuries. Lime plaster is also known for its natural antiseptic properties and ability to regulate humidity, making it ideal for spaces prone to dampness and for preserving the integrity of older structures.
