What do pool table assembly services include?
Pool table assembly services include necessary steps to make your pool table ready for play. Specialists will go to your home and assemble the legs, corner frame and the frame, lay down the playing surface, cover the surface with felt, cut the ball pockets, install the railings and secure each part of the pool table with the supplied washers, nuts and bolts. Specialists will also work to ensure that it’s perfectly level for the years to come.
Assembling the legs, corner frames and cabinet
Assemblers usually follow the enclosed pool table assembly instructions. They will assemble each of the four legs and bolt them along with the supplied nuts, bolts and washers. They usually assemble the corner frames, cabinet and legs while ensuring they are flush and made secure with washers, nuts, bolts and wood screws. To finish, they place the corner trim pieces, making sure that these pieces are flush with the bottom and top of the cabinet. Specialists may do some minor sanding if the trim pieces aren’t flush with the cabinet.
Installing the inner frame
Next, the specialists install the inner frame beams. These will support the playing surface, usually consisting of three slate blocks. The usual practice is for specialists to lay down the wood beams and tap them into place with a rubber mallet. Specialists install the frames and ensure that the structure is both flush and sits level on the pool table cabinet.
Playing surface assembly
After installing the frame and ensuring its level, laying down the playing surface is the next step. The playing surface usually consists of three heavy sheets of slate. Slate support blocks are first bolted onto the inner frame to accommodate the playing surface. After that, specialists screw the three slate pieces onto the support blocks, using the pre-drilled holes on the slate pieces. Specialists can ensure that the slate pieces are flush and level, then seal the seams between the pieces with drywall spackling.
Installing felt playing surface
After assemblers fill the seams between the slate pieces with drywall spackling and allow this to dry, they clean the surfaces of dust and debris. They then drape green felt on the slate, and attach the felt section by section with industrial adhesive, pulling taut on the felt as they go. Assemblers then cover each of the pockets with the felt, smoothing out any wrinkles as they glue the felt down. They spray the felt with adhesive and clamp it down for a couple of hours.
Installing the Rails
The top wooden rails are laid out over the felt, with the leather ball pockets fitted onto the rails. Each piece of the rails and the six pockets are bolted together. Once assembled, the wooden rail frame is placed on top of the felt. This is then aligned with the notches for the pockets. Your assembler then bolts down the wooden rails, then attaches pocket screws to the wood-slate frame, completing the assembly.
