What does a pre purchase car inspection include?
Cars are usually sold with a roadworthy certificate, but this only means your car is safe to drive on public roads. A pre-purchase car inspection is the only way to make sure there are no surprises when you drive away. A qualified mechanic will do a visual inspection, mechanical check, and test drive to spot any current or potential problems. They will also be aware of concerns that might be typical for the make or model of the car you’re buying and look specifically for those issues. Your mechanic will usually follow a comprehensive pre-purchase car inspection checklist to help you make an informed decision about buying the car. Some of these checks will include:
Exterior inspection
The outside of a car is a good indication of how well the car has been looked after. Panel damage or evidence of repaired damage could indicate the car has been in a serious accident. A pre-purchase car inspection will show whether repairs have been performed to a satisfactory standard. An exterior check also includes checks for rust and structural integrity as these issues may cause problems down the track.
Interior inspection
Your mechanic will conduct a visual inspection of the car’s interior, starting with seats and door trims. Then they’ll check all features inside the car operate normally, including lights, seats, seat belts, air conditioning, central locking, wipers, and windows. Mechanical inspection

History check
You can make sure your new purchase isn’t hiding any secrets, and that it’s not at risk of repossession by including a history check as part of your pre-purchase car inspection. A history check (or REVS check) show any finance owing on the vehicle, if the car has been stolen, or whether it’s been in a major accident and written off. These records are kept and attached to your car’s vehicle identification number (VIN).

I've been looking at a 2015 Nissan Navara which is for sale in Dingley Village. The car looks decent for its age and has done around 100,000km. I need a pre-purchase inspection for mechanical / chassis / panel to make sure it's worth spending the money and then bringing the car over to WA. In one of the pictures there is minor panel damage and the seller has been up front in telling me that someone hit him when the car was parked. It's currently being fixed by the 'at fault' driver's insurance company. He expects the car to come back by the end of this week and then is happy to have an inspection done.

Looking at buying an imported Toyota Land Cruiser Prado KZJ78. It's got the 1kz-te engine. 292,000km I'm looking for someone to have a look over it and much sure I'm not going to get a lemon. I've had a good look but I'm not 100% Especially looking for an inspection on the mechanical side of things - engine, suspension & shocks, brakes. Also, double check the rust situation. Pre purchase check on a Nissan 180sx. The car is manual and is located in Keysborough, 1 minute from Parkmore in a mechanic shop where a hoist is available to check underneath. Seller is agreed to a compression test. Thorough check throughout the car, this includes rust, compression test and general check.
Adam and his partner were very helpful, although the car did not fall through at negotiating point with the seller. They were very thorough and honest about every aspect during this inspection. They are amazing people, I highly recommend their service, they did not disappoint my expectations considering this was a first air task job for me.
