What does a privacy screen install include?

Privacy screen installation methods will vary depending on where you’d like your screen installed and what kind of screen you want. Whether you’d like a patio, deck, garden, caravan, balcony, or indoor privacy screen, your installer will bring their own tools to get the job done Here are the most common services and what you can expect:

Installing with a post system

Timber post systems are popular outdoor privacy screens for gardens, townhouses, caravans, and apartments with shared spaces. Your contractor will first measure the width of your screen panels and mark the corresponding position for the posts on the ground. Next, they’ll dig the holes deep enough to hold a third of your posts before placing the posts and filling the hole with concrete. Once the concrete has set, the holes are covered with dirt. For aluminium screens, your handyman will then hold brackets up to the screen’s frame, pre-drill holes on either side of the frame, and screw the brackets on. Finally, they’ll attach the screen to the brackets and secure it with screws.

Installing on existing rail

Adding a privacy screen to your existing rail is ideal for decks, patios, balconies, and verandas. Your installer will first measure the width of the screen panels and add any additional posts that are needed to support your screen. Then they’ll hold the brackets up to the frame, pre-drill holes on either side of the frame, and screw the brackets on. They’ll attach the screen to the brackets using screws.

Bamboo screens

Bamboo privacy screens are normally hung off a fence or wall. Your installer will start by installing screw eyes horizontally across the area where the bamboo screen will be installed. They’ll use three screw eyes for each individual bamboo screen. They’ll run wire through the screw eyes and tie the wire off, removing any kinks in the process. Next, they’ll roll out the bamboo screen along the wall and use a crimping tool and netting clips to clamp the clips along the wire fence and secure the bamboo screen.

$100

Waterloo NSW, Australia

24th Jan 2024

Hi I need someone to attach 3 x privacy screen cloth (Coolaroo) to my 2 patio fences and door. The fences are approx 3m x 1m. The cloth also needs to be trimmed to size. I have screen fasteners but they don’t seem to go into the wood fences ( I managed to get one in but the others are attached to the screen now and can’t get them off but didn’t go into the wood. I have tools to trim but not sure what else can be used to fasten as apparently if you stick a nail in they rip in the wind - hoping to have the job completed as soon as possible. - Due date: Flexible

Due to water ingress issues caused by privacy screen attachments being drilled into the top of the walls, we have had to remove the previous privacy screens installed at the time of the building construction. We are looking for options to replace these privacy screens, with an attachment option that does not involve drilling from the top, potentially a bracket that straddles the wall instead. There are 4 apartments that would require privacy screens being installed. Note we are looking for a quote that covers the privacy screens, and installation. - Due date: Flexible

Install Timber Privacy Screen Above Fence

$1,000

Enmore NSW, Australia

7th Aug 2022

We currently have a privacy screen installed that needs replacing. The materials used for the original screen are the "Lattice Makers 1800 x 900mm Mahogany Oriental Timber Screen" available from Bunnings - 5 pieces were used originally. We want to replace the current screen with the same, but to stain these with a deck sealant prior to the installing them so that they last longer. So the job would be: - Stain new screen timber - Remove current screen - Install new screen - Total length of the privacy screen is about 7m. Please quote including the materials from Bunnings (the screens are $79 each, so timber = $395 for 5 of them + screws + a small tin of deck stainer should be the materials - $450 should cover it I imagine) - I'm overseas right now so you should be able to collect these prior to the job. Let me know if any questions, thanks! - Due date: Before Tuesday, 23 August 2022

I would like something like the attached image for my limo so that I can aircon the drivers compartment and not the whole car. You can buy Clear Twinwall Polycarbonate Sheet cheaply from Bunnings and they also have clear plastic roll for the window. Then it just needs a bit of velcro and/or some straps to keep in place Just needs someone that’s good with their hands. Open to a longer timeframe depending on Covid
