Top Rabbit Boarding related questions

Right here on Airtasker! In mere minutes, you can request a rabbit boarding service near you, get multiple offers from available Taskers, and check out their customer reviews and ratings. Once you find a nearby bunny sitter who fits your needs and budget, tap to confirm your appointment. Then, breathe and relax - now that’s one thing off your to-do list!

Yes, they can! Your rabbits can identify you by voice, sight, and by your signature scent. Some may even come on command - a useful trick, no doubt! That being said, you may worry about how your pet will adjust to boarding at a Tasker’s house. The advantage of rabbit boarding versus rabbit sitting is that your Tasker can tend to their needs, give them lots of love, and recognise any symptoms early on.

Start by asking your Tasker about their experience with rabbits, and if there are any other rabbits (or other pets) at their house. Ask how they handle pet emergencies. Try to schedule a meeting with your rabbit before the actual boarding schedule. Lastly, ask for your sitter’s information and don’t forget to give them yours.

If you opt for bunny sitting versus boarding your rabbit at a Tasker’s house, it’s useful to have your Tasker check on the house during their visit. Specify in your task post if you’d like to have your bunny sitter do double-duty as a house sitter, and what you’d expect them to do when they stop by. Note that not all Taskers may be open to this, and some may charge higher to watch over both pets and property.

What does a rabbit boarding service include?

Airtasker’s rabbit boarding service includes feeding, cage cleaning, supervised playtime and administering of medication (if necessary). When you board your rabbits with a Tasker, they’ll bring your pet’s cage into their own home, to be looked after while you’re away. This means more attention for your furry pets versus having them stay at rabbit kennels or some other boarding facility. Boarding will also give you more peace of mind versus typical rabbit sitting, where your pets will only get 1-2 visits per day and will otherwise be left on their own.

Though the details may vary depending on your pet’s own needs and the Tasker you hire, here’s what you can expect when you use Airtasker to book bunny boarding services near you:

Feeding

The Tasker follows your brief for feeding and giving fresh water to your rabbit. This can be customised to fit your routine and lessen the stress on your pet. It also shows them that despite the new environment, they can trust the human who is taking care of them for the time being.

Make sure to brief your Tasker on what you feed your rabbit and how much - fresh vegetables, nugget-type food, etc. Stock up on pet food supplies before you turnover your pet, and make sure your Tasker knows where to get them if they run out of food before you return. Since rabbits need a lot of water, your Tasker also makes sure that your pet has a constant supply of clean water.

If your pet is on medication, make sure your Tasker knows how to give this to your rabbit. In case of emergencies, it’s good to give your bunny sitter the contact information of your vet and to let your vet know that your bunny is boarding with someone.

Cage cleaning

Your Tasker takes charge of scooping and changing the litter in your rabbit’s cage. If you are out for a long trip, they may also do a general cleaning of your pet’s cage. Make sure you specify how often to clean the pen and how to keep your pet safe while they do so.

Playtime and cuddle time

Your rabbit will also need some time to hop-hop-hop around, chew their toys, and get some brushing and cuddling! The Tasker makes sure that the area is secure before they let your pet out of their cage - no doors they can suddenly escape from, or random items that they might accidentally chew on. If you have any particular rules about playtime with your pet, do let your Tasker know beforehand. By indulging your pet in their regular playtime and showing them that they’re loved, your bunny stays happy and stress-free even while you’re apart.

Falcon WA, Australia

Marshmallow is an adorable and friendly 1 year old male bunny. Required boarding from the 11/9 -19/9. He likes to play soccer with his human and in between humps the ball. As expected for rabbit I guess. Needs feeding twice a day ( green veggies, 1/4, corn, apple slices, cabbage) he has mixed dry feed and water. His diet consists 80% oat and hay. All feed will be provided. Plays with his toys and runs around in an enclosed area for exercise. His enclosure has blankets that fold down at night time. His hutch needs cleaning out at least once a week to prevent being smelly.

Highly recommended
