My partner and I are moving to Spain (most likely Barcelona) next year and were hoping to find a tutor to help us advance our Spanish. We have done some basic lessons and self-learning but feel as if we are in need of more instruction and practice, both in speaking and writing. We were wondering if anyone would be available to teach us once a week from mid-January (starting w/e 15th Jan) and then for ten or so weeks after that? Thank you! - Due date: Flexible

What do Spanish tutoring services include?
Spanish private tutors provide face-to-face or online lessons to help you build your language knowledge and speaking skills. Elementary school Spanish lessons cover the alphabet and basic vocabulary, while ESL Spanish lessons may include more complex grammar rules. Learning Spanish with a tutor can undoubtedly make you feel more confident while talking to a native.
Combine your in-person or online tutoring with a private coach to help you learn a new language much faster! Here are some of the things to expect when getting a tutor in Spanish:
Spanish alphabet
Spanish lessons for beginners start with learning the alphabet, so it’s easier to understand Spanish words and pronounce them correctly. Qualified teachers focus on Spanish letters and pronunciations and how they differ from the standard English alphabet. It also introduces you to the special character ñ, plus the old letters Ch, Ll, and Rr. Diacritical marks such as the accent mark, dieresis, and tilde also note the stress per syllable and effectively helps differentiate the meaning of words. Similar to how you’ve mastered learning English or another foreign language, your tutor may ask you to do several pronunciation drills and a few reading and spelling exercises.Â
Spanish vocabulary
Booking Spanish lessons online or having a Spanish tutor at home also means practising and building your vocabulary. There are thousands of words to discover while learning how to speak Spanish. But if you’re feeling overwhelmed, your Spanish tutor may start with words you already know, including loanwords and cognates. Afterwards, they can move towards terms and expressions that you frequently use, then proceed with complicated words and phrases later on. In the meantime, it may be best to start filling in your vocabulary bank with words you use in everyday situations.Â
If you’re having a hard time with your vocabulary building, get help from a human translator with advanced knowledge and years of experience. They can interpret directions, brochures, essays and other Spanish texts for you. Â
Spanish grammar
Once you’ve got a solid understanding of the Spanish language, it’s now easier to move on to the next step, learning grammar and sentence structure. Most Spanish tutor jobs include discussions focusing on unique Spanish phrases and sentences, such as augmentatives and diminutives, capitalisations, gender alphabet rules, conjugations, and so much more. Learning Spanish for beginners can be challenging as some contexts differ significantly from the English grammar system. There’s no need to overspend for Spanish tuition at a local language school! Many tutors offer online and in-person sessions that include conversational practices or essay writing depending on your tutor’s teaching methods and techniques.Â
