Every time I drive for about an hour, the check engine light comes on, leading to the deactivation of my cruise control. I suspect it's a minor issue, likely linked to a sensor. My car broke down a few months ago, the day it stopped it went through 5L coolant yet there were no major leaks anywhere. RAA just towed it home and said my engine was probably cooked - although they didn't actually look or do anything to determine Had a friend come and put chemi-weld in a few days later and it wouldn't even turn over to run it through the engine It sat there for a good month then I charged the battery to see if it would magically start. This time it didn't even crank over and just made all the dash lights go dim/bright/dim/bright like a disco or electrical issue? Someone suggested to me the other day it may be the spark plugs and/or alternator?!? I have no mechanical knowledge and as a single mum am over people charging me tltop dollar because I know no different. I just want to know what the actual issue is, what the parts are likely to cost me and if it's even worth spending the money to fix it! I have a new Pioneer DMH-76350BT head unit to be installed in my 2012 Subaru Forester. I bought the car with an after market head unit already installed with some cuts and rejoins to the wiring.
