What do tablet repair services include?

Tablet repair services include all that’s necessary to fix a broken or non-working digital tablet and bring it back to working order. This is more than a local tablet screen repair service since a non-working digital tablet can have other issues apart from a cracked screen. This service might include replacing broken screens or casings, making software or firmware updates, replacing the battery, opening up the tablet to dry out the inner workings if the tablet was submerged.

Troubleshooting the problem

Your tablet repairman begins the service by inspecting the tablet for cracks, breaks or other damage on the screen and its casing. They can test the software and firmware for the latest versions or check for the presence of malware. After finding the causes of any hardware or software issues, the repairman proceeds with the appropriate fixes.

Cracked screen and casing replacement

To replace the screen or casing, they turn off the power and disassemble the tablet, taking care not to touch any of the surrounding components. They then remove the cracked screen or broken casing, then gently dust off the internal parts.

Your hired expert may attach the new screen or casing with or without adhesives, depending on the tablet’s design. Your repairman can apply isopropyl alcohol to the new screen to ensure that it’s free of tiny dust particles. If adhesives were used for the new screen or casing, the tablet is left to dry before powering it on.

Fixing a tablet that fell in water

Another common request for tablet owners is fixing a tablet that was accidentally dropped into a swimming pool, sink or bathtub. Your hired tablet repairman can repair most brands, whether it’s an Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Asus or Lenovo tablet. Your repairman can partially dismantle the tablet to disconnect the battery and dry its internal components. This includes removing any SIM cards and memory cards.

The repairman can wipe off any remaining water with a lint-free cloth, taking care not to damage any parts. Once the tablet has been opened up to aerate its inner workings, the tablet and all its parts are placed in a large zip-lock plastic bag. The bag is filled with packets of silica gel and sealed; this is to draw out any remaining moisture and completely dry the tablet’s parts.

Battery replacement

Sometimes a tablet won’t work due to an old battery that has reached or exceeded its maximum number of charges. Your tablet repair specialist can carefully open the tablet, detach the old battery, attach a new one and close the case.

Software updates & fixes

Should the issue be due to a software or firmware problem, your repairman can download new updates and install them onto your tablet. Some repairmen could install an older version of your tablet’s software or firmware in the meantime (if the latest updates were reported by your manufacturer to be less stable). Your repairman may advise you to install software updates later.

Pakenham VIC, Australia

Can't find how to remove the N from the top right corner of the drop down menu bar. I suspect that it's got to do with some sort of notification but I can't find anywhere in the tablet that needs attention. Help would be greatly appreciated to diagnose, and hints for fixing. I've attached a screen shot of problem. Thanks Kevin.
