What do toilet seat fitting services include?
Toilet seat fitting services include doing all that’s necessary to ensure the new toilet seat fits over the toilet pan. Your handyman makes sure that the new position makes a perfect seal and covers the bowl when not in use. The service includes removing the old toilet seat, measuring the toilet pan, ensuring the new seat fits, making adjustments as necessary and disposing of the old toilet seat.
Removing the old seat
Whether it’s due to age, loosening, damage or for any other reason, your handyman can remove the old toilet seat for you. If the bolts keeping the old seat in place are rusted, the handyman may apply an industrial lubricant to loosen them, then unscrew them with an adjustable wrench.
Should this method prove ineffective, they can use a hacksaw to cut off the stubborn, rusted bolts. The bolts, old toilet seat and lid are then removed and set aside.
Pre-cleaning
Some handymen may find it necessary to clean the toilet pan before doing the installation - they'll usually prepare by wearing house cleaning gloves and a face mask to avoid germs, but some may take more precautions. Your handyman may use bleach or detergent to clean the toilet pan, then rinse and wipe it dry. Your Tasker may even apply a disinfectant spray on the toilet before proceeding with this service.
Installing the new seat
The Tasker first measures the toilet pan with a tape measure - this is important when doing a large or small toilet seat replacement, as this ensures a perfect fit. Next, your handyman determines the width of the toilet pan by placing the tape measure across the fullest part of the pan. If these measurements match your new toilet seat, installation can proceed.
You handyman follows the installation instructions of your new toilet seat by fastening the seat onto the toilet pan with the included bolts, bolt nuts and washers.
Disposing of the old seat
After your new toilet seat is installed, your handyman can dispose of the old toilet seat as part of the service. You can use this option if you don’t know how or where to have an old seat recycled. Taskers can place the old toilet seat in an airtight bag or similar container, then take it to the appropriate recycling facility.
