What does a commercial cleaning service include?
Commercial cleaners usually work after business hours, either late at night, or early in the morning so they don’t disturb your business. You might book a commercial cleaning service for regular cleaning on a daily or weekly basis. Or you can request a more thorough clean for when you relocate offices or host an event or function. Here are some specific services and what you can expect:
Office cleaning
When you hire a regular cleaning service for your offices, they’ll usually work outside of regular hours. They’ll empty the rubbish bins and take the rubbish outside, before replacing all bin liners. They’ll then clean the floors, kitchens, and bathrooms. Your cleaner may wipe down the desks and other surfaces, including windows. When you book your office cleaning, you can specify how thorough you need your cleaners to be, and request additional tasks like emptying dishwashers and tidying work areas.
Rubbish removal
Commercial cleaners can remove your office rubbish, then dispose of it for you. If you have a large amount of rubbish (for example, after an event or office renovation), you might need to hire a skip bin to help your commercial cleaners remove it faster and ensure your workplace stays safe and healthy.
Kitchens and bathrooms
High-use areas need regular cleaning to keep them safe and hygienic for both staff and customers. Your commercial cleaner can recommend a suitable cleaning schedule, including what tasks need to happen and how often. This could include putting things away, stacking and unpacking dishwashers, and tidying furniture. As a minimum, they’ll wipe down all surfaces, take out the rubbish, replace bin liners, vacuum, and mop. Bathroom cleaning will usually include emptying general waste bins, vacuuming and mopping floors, replacing used toilet rolls, cleaning toilets and shower areas, and wiping down the sinks and benchtops.
Floor cleaning
Commercial floor cleaners will use different types of equipment, depending on the surface and frequency of the cleaning. Marble, concrete, timber and tile floors all need special treatment to keep them clean but not slippery. Daily vacuuming and manual mopping are suitable for smaller areas. But larger floor areas, like supermarkets, hospitals, and shopping centres might use commercial floor polishers to keep the floors sparkling clean. If you have an industrial area or wet areas, such as gyms and shower rooms, your cleaner may use pressure hoses, steam cleaners, and stronger chemicals to sterilise the area.
Carpet cleaning
As well as vacuuming carpets, rugs, and entry mats daily, it’s important to book in an annual or seasonal deep clean for your carpet to keep it looking and smelling fresh. Your commercial cleaner will bring in their steam cleaner to flush hot water into the carpet, loosening and removing dirt, and killing bacteria in the process. Your carpet cleaner will do a pre-inspection, looking for any stains, and areas of concern. They’ll move furniture, vacuum up loose dirt, treat any stains, and then use machines to either dry or steam clean your carpet. Your floors may need several hours to dry completely before moving furniture back in place.
