Motherboard short circuit repair.
£250
Felling, Tyne and Wear
28th May 2021
Laptop: Alienware 17 R2 [Dell] The Laptop brand new was about £1400, I'm desperately looking to get it fixed but at an affordable price, I'm currently unemployed and in the process of moving house so I can only spare a few hundred at best. Also I need this done asap, because I use my laptop for work purposes. (The Problem) Last week my laptop stopped working and lost all power completely. I tried plugging in my charger but when I did nothing happened. I am fairly sure the problem is a short circuit somewhere in the laptop. This is because I noticed whenever I plugged my charger into the laptop the green light on the adaptor instantly turns off and won't turn on again until its removed from the wall socket and then reconnected. Since then I've tried removing the battery but the laptop still doesn't turn on and still cuts power to the charger when plugged in. Then I tried replacing the charger for a brand new one but it has exactly the same problem. So then I tried replacing the dc power jack in the laptop with & without the battery plugged in but it still has the same problem. I have given the rest of the laptop an inspection but can't see anything wrong. However 2 months ago the laptop itself was dropped heavy on its corner causing obvious damage to the casing on the laptop and smashing a lot of plastic off it, the next day I removed all the bits of loose plastic inside the laptop and it still worked fine up until now. Furthermore for the last year I have experienced some blue screens which forces me to reboot the laptop every time, I think the last one I had it said "Your PC, ran into a problem and needs to restart" "search online for the error: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". (Don't know if thats got anything to do with the short circuit problem but it might help). Finally my laptop was also recently inspected by a self employed professional and although he couldn't fix it, he is fairly sure the short circuit problem is on the motherboard. Can someone please help me?
