Top Drone Repair related questions
No. The drone repair specialist you hire already has the right tools and equipment for the job. Your hired specialist likely has years of experience and honed their skills in repairing drones, so they know exactly which tools are needed and are never without them when they arrive at the site. Some specialists are also avid drone hobbyists, so there’s no need to provide them with any tools to fix your drone.Â
That depends on the extent of damage on your drone and the complexity of the needed repairs. A simple replacement of a couple of propellers can take at most an hour and a half. Replacing a gimbal can take three hours, as this is a delicate procedure involving a lot of small parts and requires careful disassembly and reassembly. Most drone repair jobs shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours to an entire afternoon to fix.Â
Yes! If you offer drone repair services but have more jobs than you can take on, you can always hire a Tasker to assist. You can employ Taskers for drone repair and other related tasks like photography or even similar hard-to-find services for electronics like circuit board repair, computer assembly, or console repair. There’s a Tasker for many jobs, you only have to be specific in your post on our platform, and the right one will find you.Â
Yes! Some repair specialists on Airtasker are avid drone hobbyists themselves, so you should have no problem finding someone who can fix your DJI drone. If the drone you have is a famous brand like DJI, Mavic or Syma, it should be easier to find a Tasker that can repair your drone. To find a Tasker that specialises in restoring your brand of drone, make a post that’s as specific as possible.
While it’s tempting to buy a new drone, hold off on a new purchase at least until you’ve had an expert inspect it. Some drones may be cheap and small to not bother with repairs, but the larger professional drones aren’t as easy to replace. If the drone requires rewiring or replacement parts, you can save yourself some money and hire an expert Tasker to do the repairs.Â
Yes, but only if you have the right tools, skills and years of experience. Drone repairs can be very complicated and require specialised tools and equipment to do right. Even if you have all these, the parts are also tiny and require the utmost delicacy in handling them, so it’s quite a challenge. A better strategy would be to hire an expert repair specialist on Airtasker to get your drone fixed.Â

What do drone repair services include?
Drone repair services include all the tasks and activities needed to get damaged or non-working quadcopter back up and flying. Your hired drone repair technician can inspect the drone’s components to find the source of the problem, then apply the appropriate fixes.Â
This can include replacing damaged propellers, replacing the gimbal, fixing short-circuits, repairing broken wires and replacing LEDs. Your drone repair technician can fix most drone models and types, from the small drones for entertainment to the larger drones for racing or taking aerial photography and videos.Â
Inspecting the drone
If your drone sustained damage after crashing or bumping into an obstacle, your technician begins the service with a thorough inspection. They can check for cracks or breaks on the drone’s chassis, missing, bent or broken propellers, loose battery, loose gimbals and other issues. They may do a bit of cleaning of the drone if it fell into a muddy or dirty area.Â
Should there be any issues with flying, navigating or how the gimbal takes photos or videos, your drone repair specialist can disassemble the drone to inspect its internal parts. They proceed with the appropriate fixes once they’ve found the cause of the problem.Â
Replacing the propellers
Should your drone have bent, damaged or missing propellers, your drone specialist can replace the props with new ones. Some drone repair specialists can have spare props for popular brands like DJI. If you don’t have spare propellers, your drone repair specialist may offer to buy the spares for you from a drone repair shop, but this can cost extra.Â
Replacing the gimbal
If the gimbal is damaged or no longer works, your drone repair specialist can replace the gimbal. Some specialists may have spares for most types and brands of drones, but they can procure a new gimbal from your drone’s manufacturer as appropriate. Your specialist can go to your drone’s specialised service provider, such as a DJI Drone repair service centre and buy the new gimbal. Note that this can cost extra.Â
Repairing broken wires, LEDs and short-circuits
Should your drone not work or fly correctly due to broken wires that supply power, your drone repair specialist can splice new wiring and attach new power connections. They can also rewire and replace the LEDs if these don’t light up.Â
Some repair specialists may dust off the internals with a non-static brush or compressed air while the drone’s chassis is open. If your drone is experiencing short-circuits, your repair specialist can secure the insulation and the battery.
Testing the drone
Once the appropriate fixes are done, your drone repair specialist does a test flight of the drone. They can test the features of the drone, such as the gimbal. If the drone still has issues with gimbal operation, flight or any other feature, your specialist repeats the diagnostic and repair process. This is done until the gimbal works, and the drone flies straight and true.Â
