These wedges are inserted into a deep cut on the trunk, opposite the notch. With a sledgehammer or the blunt side of the axe head, the wedges are driven into the tree until the tree opens up and then falls.

Tree cutting

Once the tree has been felled, tree specialists can cut off the protruding branches, and cut up the trunk into smaller sections. You may use the cut-up tree for firewood, carvings or clean logs. Some tree specialists may offer to dispose of the felled tree for you, but this can cost extra.
