Top Burglar Alarm Installation related questions

No, you don’t have to provide any tools or equipment for your alarm fitters. They have the skills, tools and years of experience to do the job. The only items you have to provide are the components of the burglar alarm system itself, and a few screws and batteries if these didn’t come with your alarm system. Some alarm installers can buy the batteries and mounting screws for you if these aren’t included, but this can cost extra.

Usually, it takes about two hours to install a burglar alarm system for the average home. This should be enough time to install the door sensors, motion sensors, smoke detectors and security cameras (if included), help you program the access codes, install the apps, then arm and test the system. Should your burglar alarm system have more sensors to attach and features to activate and test, then expect the installation to take up the whole day.

Yes! You can hire one or as many Taskers as you need to help you with your burglar alarm installation if you offer this service as a business. You can even hire Taskers for uncommon jobs like solar panel installation, putting in curtains and blinds, or installing a Wi-Fi extender setup. There are Taskers for almost any job - the key is to post all the crucial details to get matched with the right one.

Both have their pros and cons. Deadbolts can be defeated by breaking down your door, but that activates a security alarm. A security alarm can act as a deterrent, but only if the would-be intruder knows it’s there. Perhaps it’s best to use them both to bolster your home security - a deadbolt to make it harder for burglars to break in, and an alarm to alert you and your family in case it happens.

Another security feature to have alongside window barriers and security alarms is to have a dog. The dog doesn’t even have to be large or ferocious; it only has to bark loudly at strangers. Some reports have shown that most burglars and would-be home intruders avoid homes with dogs since they can draw unwanted attention as they attempt to break into a house. We can help you hire groomers and dog sitters should you need extra help with a new pet.

Yes. Wired or wireless, you can find a Tasker that can install your particular type of alarm system. The trick is to make a post describing it and your installation needs in detail. Once you’ve posted a thorough description of your alarm system, you can expect inquiries from qualified local Taskers within minutes. Be matched with the right Tasker who’s experienced in installing your alarm system!

What do burglar alarm installation services include?

The burglar alarm installation service includes all the necessary activities for setting up your purchased burglar alarm system, which can be a valuable addition to your home network setup.

This can consist of placing the central station, placing and mounting the entry detectors, motion sensors, security webcam and other accessories like smoke detectors if they come with the system. Your burglar alarm fitter may also test the system, and assist in installing any software or apps that come with the system and show you how to use it.

Positioning the central station

Work with your burglar alarm installers to decide where to place the central control unit. It must be placed in a spot where most everyone can hear its alarm. Once you’ve found the right spot, your hired installation expert can plug it in and attach it to a wall if necessary.

Placing and mounting entry sensors

Once the central control unit is mounted and activated, your alarm fitters place the sensors on your doors. These sensors work in pairs, with one placed on the inside of the door and its “partner” sensor on the door jamb. Your hired installer can set the sensors using double-sided adhesive on the backs of the sensors, or secure them onto the door and door jamb with screws if needed.

Hired alarm installers can mount all the sensor pairs on the doors you specify, such as your garage door, front door and bedroom door. They can also install them on your windows if there are enough sensors. Once mounted, your installer activates the sensors by switching on a button or removing a tab that activates an internal battery.

Mounting motion and smoke detectors

Your installation expert places motion detectors close to high-traffic areas in your home, such as a wall facing your front door, and a wall facing your garage or back door. Some alarm companies provide smoke detectors that can be placed on ceilings in your kitchen and dining room.

Your Tasker can use double-sided adhesive to mount them, then remove a tab that activates each detector’s internal battery, or turn on a switch.

Mounting and activating the security cams

Your installer can find an excellent spot to mount the camera, activate it by plugging it in or putting in batteries, and check that it covers a good angle. If you don’t have a shelf to position the camera, some alarm fitters may fashion a corner mount for the camera, but this can cost extra.

Testing the system

After mounting and activating the central control unit, the sensors, detectors and security cameras, your hired expert tests the system. They test each door and motion sensor to ensure that they work as intended when the system is armed. They can also help you program your system and install the apps on your smartphone and other devices.

Your alarm installer will troubleshoot any problems as recommended by the alarm company and will repeat the troubleshooting process until the system works flawlessly.
