What do burglar alarm installation services include?

The burglar alarm installation service includes all the necessary activities for setting up your purchased burglar alarm system, which can be a valuable addition to your home network setup.

This can consist of placing the central station, placing and mounting the entry detectors, motion sensors, security webcam and other accessories like smoke detectors if they come with the system. Your burglar alarm fitter may also test the system, and assist in installing any software or apps that come with the system and show you how to use it.

Positioning the central station

Work with your burglar alarm installers to decide where to place the central control unit. It must be placed in a spot where most everyone can hear its alarm. Once you’ve found the right spot, your hired installation expert can plug it in and attach it to a wall if necessary.

Placing and mounting entry sensors

Once the central control unit is mounted and activated, your alarm fitters place the sensors on your doors. These sensors work in pairs, with one placed on the inside of the door and its “partner” sensor on the door jamb. Your hired installer can set the sensors using double-sided adhesive on the backs of the sensors, or secure them onto the door and door jamb with screws if needed.

Hired alarm installers can mount all the sensor pairs on the doors you specify, such as your garage door, front door and bedroom door. They can also install them on your windows if there are enough sensors. Once mounted, your installer activates the sensors by switching on a button or removing a tab that activates an internal battery.

Mounting motion and smoke detectors

Your installation expert places motion detectors close to high-traffic areas in your home, such as a wall facing your front door, and a wall facing your garage or back door. Some alarm companies provide smoke detectors that can be placed on ceilings in your kitchen and dining room.

Your Tasker can use double-sided adhesive to mount them, then remove a tab that activates each detector’s internal battery, or turn on a switch.

Mounting and activating the security cams

Your installer can find an excellent spot to mount the camera, activate it by plugging it in or putting in batteries, and check that it covers a good angle. If you don’t have a shelf to position the camera, some alarm fitters may fashion a corner mount for the camera, but this can cost extra.

Testing the system

After mounting and activating the central control unit, the sensors, detectors and security cameras, your hired expert tests the system. They test each door and motion sensor to ensure that they work as intended when the system is armed. They can also help you program your system and install the apps on your smartphone and other devices.

Your alarm installer will troubleshoot any problems as recommended by the alarm company and will repeat the troubleshooting process until the system works flawlessly.
