I am trying to refresh an alcove in my playroom by putting in a faux bench front. See attached pics & dimensions. If you look at Pic 1 attached you'll see the blank space. Basically I want to build (and stain) a bench front and attached bench top that will affix to the existing wall. I will then have the paneling installed above that inside the alcove. I already have the cushion to cover the bench top so it's softer. The bench front doesn't have to look exactly like the attached, I like the notches for visual interest but that's just the inspiration. Definitely looking for a professional's opinion on what's possible / what looks good. And to clarify I am NOT removing the existing bench, just placing/affixing something on top.
