Shaun was amazing! Very informative, helpful and prompt. I honestly walked to grab a coffee and it was all done - he changed my oil filter, air filter, went further to fix my headlight bulb and turn off my regular service lights. What does a car service include?
As a general rule, your car will likely need to be serviced every 6-12 months, depending on the manufacturer’s recommendations. The exact inclusions of your car service and mobile car service will vary depending on how much work is needed on your car. Some of the popular car services you can book on Airtasker include:
Oil and oil filter change
An oil and oil filter change will help your car run smoothly and increase fuel efficiency. It’s one of the most important parts of a service and should be included in both minor and major services. Your mechanic will find the oil drain plug, loosen and unscrew it, and carefully allow the old oil to drain into a pan. Then they’ll replace and tighten the plug before removing and replacing the filter. Finally, they’ll fill up with fresh oil up to the “full” mark on the dipstick.
Car minor service
A minor service is also known as an interim or basic service. It focuses on changing and topping up fluids and inspecting a number of components for wear and tear. A minor service includes an oil and filter change; an under-body and under-bonnet inspection; a top-up of all key fluids in the engine, including washer fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze, and steering fluid; and a check of up to 35 key components, such as lights, tyres, and brakes. Most mechanics will also check the manufacturer guidelines and recommend any additional work your car may need.
Car major service
A major service includes all the basic services described above, but will also include an inspection of an additional 15-30 car components to ensure that your vehicle is in the best condition possible. These components can include wheel bearings, shock absorbers, and the air conditioning system. Any parts that need extra work or replacement, such as car batteries or windscreens, will be billed as extra.

Hi all - DISCOVERY SPORT 2015 DIESEL HSE Had a couple of electrical issues since we had the boot replaced and been told this light might be due to a software issue as there are no car or mechanical issues Generally when the car is hot or if foot is put down when going uphill the limited performance warning comes on and I get 3,000 Revs until I restart the car - then it’s fine again. 2013 Holden Captiva 7 (Auto, petrol). I brought my car to a local mechanic after hearing a weird "clapping" sound coming from the front of the car/engine. He told me the engine is completely wasted (or about to at least), something with the pistons firing/breaking (unsure exactly, my knowledge is limited). He said there's no point in trying to repair or replace the engine for this car. And that I shouldn't drive it anymore as it can break any minute, leave a huge oil spill and even be dangerous with the pistons shooting out (at the passenger). I'm hoping to get a second opinion/inspection on whether this is correct. If repairing or replacing the engine I'm also open to exploring that as I do love the car and it actually only has 120K km. Let me know if you need any additional info. Unsure about what the budget needs to be, and of course, if we move to repair I understand it will be more expansive than just getting an inspection.
