Hello! I had a PC built in 2015 to run Architecture programs. I’ve had no issues and it generally still runs really well. I’m no longer using it as my main computer, but am trying to set my husband up to use it for work (emails, PDF etc). However, it only starts up in BIOS mode and I cannot seem to fix it. I am the “tech-savvy” person in the family so have read articles, reddit posts etc but can’t seem to fix it. I was going to take it to a computer place but would like to avoid karting it back and forth if possible. If there are any Windows 7 IT geniuses out there - this one’s for you! BIOS Recovery Mode has been detected! Put the file “P9X79PRO.ROM” into a removable USB media device, and reset your computer…” I did not manually update my BIOS, nor am I tech savvy. I’m unable to access BIOS pressing keys. Unsure if this happened due to hardware issues or software issues. The PC is very old but second hand and I only used it for 6 months. I would like a professional to help: - Clear CMOS battery - Investigate the PC (motherboard, bios chip, fans) - Possibly flash BIOS if no other choice, per instructions of the technician. I have a 16GB Fat32 2.0 usb available for this, but do not have another windows laptop to download the BIOS firmware. May the technician bring a windows laptop. Clear BIOS password on HP Elitebook 8440P using the HPBR utility. These require a flash-drive boot and run the HPBR utility. This is not a laptop you can simply remove the main battery and CMOS battery and password will clear. My HP Spectre 360 (Windows 11) laptop did a BIOS upgrade. It restarted with a Temporary profile and I have not been able to fix this. Support from HP and Microsoft have not helped. I have gone into Registry Editor and to the Profilelist directory. I have tried deleting the Temporary profile and renaming the Permanent profile.
