I need to have my deck painted. The old stain may have to be remove. Need advice.

There are 46 battens which need to be sealed. We will provide a water based sealant, brush etc. Battens will be cleaned and sanded by us, so the application is all that is needed. Someone with experience preferred as careful application is important – To top, bottom and rear of battens.
