Top Refinishing related questions

Generally, the entire process can be completed within the day. The exact number of hours it would take for it to be finished would depend on the item and the tools and equipment to be used. It’s best to discuss your preferred time frame with your Tasker beforehand to help manage your expectations.

It depends on the item and the chemicals that were used. But generally, light usage after 24 to 72 hours after the last coat is applied is allowed. This is to let the finish settle and cure. Using or disturbing the item during its recommended cure time can lead to damaged refinishing.

Your new finish can last for years and even for decades, provided that you give it proper care and maintenance. You can help extend its lifespan by having it cleaned regularly using the appropriate cleaning materials and having it repaired when needed. Some items and furniture can be refinished over and over again, like bathtubs and floor tiles.

There’s no need for you to provide tools and supplies for your refinishing service! Taskers come with professional equipment such as scrapers, wire brushes, and sanders to help them finish the job efficiently. But if you have these tools and prefer to use them, please have this setup arranged with your Tasker.

Your Tasker can make their best effort to keep fumes or odours to a minimum by sealing off and ventilating the area they’re working in, using industrial-grade exhaust equipment, and masking the odours with fragrance. There will be some lingering odours, especially immediately after the job is done, but rest assured that this will dissipate throughout the day.

Those who are a fan of DIY projects can do it on their own, but it’s always recommended to leave it to a professional. Doing this can help you avoid mistakes, thereby saving you money in the long run. You can also be sure that the job will be done right the first time, without having to redo it and spend more of your time and resources.

What do refinishing services include?

Refinishing services include renewing and restoring your items to their original appearance and former glory! This process is performed by a skilled Tasker using state-of-the-art refinishing methods and technologies. Whether it’s glass, metal, plastic or wood refinishing, Taskers can get the job done! Here are a few of the things they can do for you:

Furniture refinishing

Refinishing a piece of furniture involves repairing or completely removing the finish, stripping the paint, and applying a new one. This can be done by a furniture stripping service near you. From reupholstering items like couches and chairs to refinishing laminate tables, kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts, your Tasker can help breathe new life into your home.If something’s broken, you can get someone to have your furniture repaired first to ensure that everything’s good to go before refinishing your kitchen cabinets, tables and other wooden furniture.

Floor refinishing

If your floors have seen better days, maybe it’s time to have them refinished! The most common type of this service is hardwood floor refinishing where it involves sanding, dust removal, restaining, recoating and sealing to help restore its colour and lustre. This material is one of the easiest and most affordable to refinish, so you may consider that when planning to have hardwood flooring installed. But aside from wood floor refinishing, Taskers can also do this service with other types of floor material, such as vinyl, ceramic or stone.

Fence refinishing

Fences are constantly exposed to external elements such as strong winds, heat, rain or snow, and that’s why they’re highly susceptible to wear and tear. Having it regularly refinished can help avoid corrosion, holes or gaps, sagging gates, and stains while extending its lifespan. Whether it’s made of wood, aluminium or chain-link, Taskers can help restore your fence so it can serve its purpose efficiently. If you don’t have one yet, you can also get someone to install a wooden fence on your property or any fence of your choice!

Musical instrument refinishing

Though refinishing musical instruments is usually not recommended because their finish is part of their tone, there would be instances where saving the instrument is the better option than replacing it. This is mainly for those attached to their musical instruments who want to keep them for as long as possible. Banjo, violin, mandolins, and guitar refinishing can only be done by experts with the right tools and supplies, so the original appearance is restored without sacrificing the quality of sound they produce.

In other words I think this is a minor job, it needs a resealing or refinishing but not a full staining and sealing from scratch. Please note you would need to bring your own materials (oil/sealant/whatever) please. I will add some images to the listing in a little bit so you can see the type of table/extent of job.

PAINT KITCHEN CABINETS + REFINISH TIMBER WORK BENCH

$380

Surry Hills, New South Wales

6th Jan 2025

Hello. Pls refer to the images attached for details Long story short the cabinets are pretty old and cheap but this is what I’m doing so before anyone tells me to replace them etc. I don’t want to hear it lol. Read da job and decide if you can do it or not. I will reimburse/transfer the cost of all additional consumables and materials bits bobs required to finish this. 1. REPLACE MDF PIECE - under the sink had a leak that’s now been repaired but unfortunately I let it go on for long enough for the water damage to rot that base board part. I’ve removed it and gotten a new piece of MDF cut to exact size to replace it. I was going to use furniture brackets to drill in and use to support the new piece but those got moved to storage so it’s easier if you get some new ones or whatever idea you think will work to hold up an 80cm x 60 cm piece of MDF 2. PAINT BASE CABINETS - Finish/go over my amazing midnight manic piece of work I started. Primer and paint provided. Oil base. Should have some sand paper and rollers/paint brushes left behind but get what you need from Bunnings. 3. Readjust the new door hinges I did a meticulous job guesstimating with the drill. They’re not exactly level and the one with the drawers overlaps the door part so you can’t open it properly lol. The doors will fit. Just needs fine tuning 4. ATTACH HANDLES - easy part 5. FINISH STICKY TILES - easy part WORK BENCH: Yeah idk. It’s an antique/vintage timber bench and thought I’d fill in the groove markings and gaps to make a flat even sealed surface more appropriate for food preparation area so I poured Agnew’s Water Putty to level the gaps and didn’t quite think through what my next move would be. I would say it can probs be mostly removed with a sand and a simple cleaning and sealing of the timber would suffice. Make it look acceptable.
