Great job, great guys, definitely recommend

Carpenter take up the floorboards on balcony, turn over, sand, finish

£500

Absolutely delighted with Christian’s work, which looks frankly terrific. Don’t let his lack of reviews put you off, Christian is incredibly professional, very efficient, easy to speak to, having your interests at heart! My job was a tad tricky, with a need of a matching black board for the sill of my black window. Christian couldn’t find it at first but managed to source it eventually and did a pristine work! Highly recommend him.

What does a carpenter do?

Whether you’re planning a major renovation on your home, or you simply want to make things look a bit nicer, hiring a carpenter can help you with many different tasks. Carpenters take on a wide range of work, such as fixing areas of houses and building furniture from scratch.

Carpentry work is generally broken down into two types: rough and finish. Rough carpentry refers to work that doesn’t have an intricate look, as it’s covered up – often by bricks, tiles, or plasterwork. Finish carpentry covers the work that will be on display, so needs to have a nicer finish. Furniture, decking, and window frames all fall into this second category.

Decking

Don't know what to do with all that space in your backyard? Hire a carpenter who specialises in building decks. A decking specialist can add an outdoor deck or upgrade an existing one that opens up your outdoor space. This is great if you want to entertain guests or eat outside as a family during the sunny months.

Cabinet making

Cabinetmakers are one example of finish carpentry, because of the high level of detail that goes into their end products. Unlike structural work, it’s important that a cabinet looks nice, so this type of carpenter is a lot more focused on fine details. Cabinetmakers often specialise in other forms of furniture making too.

Refinishing carpentry

While structural carpentry is concerned with jobs on the large end of the scale, trim or refinishing carpentry looks at the small end. A trim carpenter is the way to go if you want someone to fix up your skirting boards, cornicing, or a similar aspect of your home.

Custom made furniture

A house isn’t a home without a few personal touches, and if you’d rather avoid the cookie-cutter Ikea approach to decorating your property, hiring a carpenter to create custom-made furniture can make you stand out. Whether you want chairs, tables, or a shoe rack, there’s someone nearby who can help.

Joinery

Joinery services encompass the craftsmanship of creating and joining wood in workshops, distinct from on-site carpentry. These services range from bespoke projects to crafting timber buildings, emphasizing precision and passion. Joiners play a crucial role in interior woodwork, window and door production, and specialized construction, offering tailored and quality timber solutions.

Build three low storage units for our living room

£800

Kingsland, Greater London, E8

15th Jun 2023

TASK ON HOLD WHILE WE EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITY OF MOVING THE RADIATOR AROUND THE CORNER AT REASONABLE COST BEFORE ADDING STORAGE We'd like you to build three low storage units for our living room; dimensions: (1) 85cm x 60cm x 45cm; (2) 90cm x 60cm x 32cm; (3) 85cm x 60cm x 39cm. MDF is fine; matt white finish. We've added a photo of the kind of thing we're looking for. The unit in the photo is completely regular in depth because it doesn't need to fit around radiators and TV sockets (unlike our task!) - but we like it to (1) look like this from the front; and (2) have a single, unifying top. A sleek final finish is essential (we could do a bosh job ourselves!). I’ve added a couple of photos where the unit would go. I think it would look good completely flush against the wall with incurs for skirting board and corner pipes etc. The piece would start in the left hard corner and finish about where the right hand side of the TV currently ends. - Due date: Flexible

Fix & Restore - Mid Century Coffee Table

£150

Spitalfields, Greater London

22nd Mar 2021

We need a skilled tradesman to fix our Mid Century coffee table Tasks include: - Fixing undershelf (reattaching) - Fixing side (also reattaching) - Remove/sand out to the best of your ability red wine stain - Sanding and revarnishing whole table Needs experience in the above tasks. Needs to be completed ASAP as our baby has started crawling and standing up so all furniture is fair game. His fingers have already got stuck in the damaged side which hurts!

Not worth one star or paying. I chose to pay so I can share my experience. Requested a skilled tradesman to restore a mid-century table - our first piece of furniture and sentimental. This person sold us a background in interior design/furniture with high-quality DIY experience. This is not true. If this person had furniture experience, they wouldn’t have used a different colour lacquer or would have at least painted the entire table. They also wouldn’t sand parts and then not paint them. If this person had design experience they would know this piece is worth money and what they did completely ruined the piece. And if this person had DIY background the workmanship would be structurally sound even though not professionally finished and its falling apart where fixed because this person hasn’t a clue what they are doing. This person doesn’t possess any professionalism or common courtesy to realise and communicate that what we wanted wasn’t possible with their experience. SAD.
