The stain of the wood has been damaged by some chemicals which have leaked. I need to sand back the damage and revarnish

Downsized and solid wood wardrobe won’t fit through staircase (2 door). Wardrobe glued with a modern glue so hard to disassemble even after screws removed. May need to be cut in half and reassembled.
