What do wheel refurbishment services include?
Damaged or manky wheels can have a negative impact not just on a vehicle’s performance but also on its value. Once you notice that your tyres are past their prime, it's time to get them checked and revamped. From powder coating and diamond cutting to cosmetic repair, wheel refurbishment services can involve various processes—all with the same goal of reconditioning your wheel back to manufacturer standards. Just tell us your needs and preferences, and we will go straight to work on making your wheels look like new again. Here’s what we can do:
Powder Coating
Powder coating is your best bet when your wheels have begun to show scratches, scrapes, and signs of normal wear and tear. To prepare your wheels for coating, they are first stripped of all the old lacquer, paint, and any remaining chemical residue. Your specialist will then fix any damage to your wheel's rim edges or face before gently heating them to remove any air. After the heat treatment, the first powder coating will be applied and subsequently cured before finally applying wet paint in your preferred colour. The last step involves using a lacquer coat in your chosen finish to ensure your wheel is protected from any environmental damage including moisture, sunlight, and dirt.
Diamond Cutting
Diamond cutting uses the same procedure as that of powder coating except for having a diamond-cut finish at the end of the process. The old paint and lacquer are removed from your wheels before being cleaned and heated for powder coating and finishing. Once cured, the wheels go under a special machine called a computer numerical controlled lathe (CNC) to achieve a diamond-cut finish. After another round of cleaning and heating, an anti-corrosion additive and acrylic lacquer are applied to your wheels before they return to the machine for final curing.
Cosmetic Repair
Cosmetic repairs, also called SMART (Small to Medium Area Repair Technology) repairs, is a quick and cost-effective way of repairing minor damage to your wheels. Often involving only a small or medium section of the wheel, the repair is done using specialised tools and equipment in order to match the original colour and finish, and leave your tyre as untouched as possible.
