I need help in replacing old fashioned door knob to a new entrance door knob. Two doors needed replacements.

I need 4 (maybe 5) doorknobs installed but as there is newish carpet in the two bedrooms, the doors are not closing as well as they should, so perhaps the doors need adjusting in some way? Hinges? I have bought all the doorknobs. Afternoons and evenings are best for me but times and days are tight for me re scheduling. It isn't an emergency, so I am happy to wait until we can find a mutual time that suits.
