Slats of a sectional garage door were damaged when the door was lowered at the same a time a car was exiting. The door comprises 4 sections. Photo 4 illustrates two coil springs that are torqued to counter balance the weight of the door for opening and closing. It would be probably necessary to release the spring torque prior to attempting repair of the door bearing in mind that it will be necessary to remove the lowest section to replace or possibly repair the slat. Releasing the spring torque is hazardous and for that reason I seek someone who has experience working on doors of this type.
